We are a well travelled family, born and bred in the Far East and have extensively visited most continents. Italy has always had a special place in our hearts since the 1980’s and discovering our house in it’s amazing valley in 1999. Our children have loved the property since they were 8 years old and Millie was married nearby a few years ago. Freddie has planted our cypress drive way and many of the newer olive trees.
Our late neighbour poet, James Berry MBE wrote a poem about Gugliano in 1998.
Like a mate, a place draws you to it.
We touched these undulating valleys:
they embraced and entranced us. Unlike
Shelley – who drowned in the waters of
Cinque Terre – we sank into the arms of these hills.
As an award winning International photographer, I have worked all over the world and extensively in Italy; I am currently producing a book ‘The Tuscan Renaissance’ based on the area and the family owned Antica Locanda di Sesto and farm Maolina.
